Martin Custom Shop D-14 Cherry Hill Western Guitar
The Martin Custom Shop D-14 Cherry Hill is not just any Custom Shop, but a guitar with an extraordinary amount of history! Even for a Martin. Indeed, behind this grand dreadnought lovingly crafted by Martin's finest luthiers lies a story from the principles of this legendary brand. First a word about the guitar itself, because even without its history it is worth a look.
Specifications
The Martin D-14 Cherry Hill is a limited edition Custom Shop Guitar that has the standard dimensions of an authentic dreadnought. This means it has a booming sound, with deep basses and a powerful full tone. The sitka spruce top combined with cherry sides and back creates a relatively bright tone that is more towards mahogany than rosewood. Cherry, by the way, is a beautiful tonewood that we have been seeing more and more in high-end guitars in recent years. Another plus about cherry is how the wood looks. It undulates beautifully on the back of this guitar, changing in colour and shape with every light source. The neck of this guitar is made of mahogany and the fretboard of ebony. All hardware is, as we have come to expect from Martin, of the highest quality!
Cherry Hill
This Martin D-14 has been named ‘Cherrry Hill’ for a reason. In every way, this guitar is an ode to the rich history of this renowned brand. Cherry hill is therefore really a place, close to the factory where Martin is now located. When Chris Martin moved from busy New York to idyllic Nazareth, he was not welcomed with open arms. Indeed, the small village in the mid-19th century consisted entirely of Moravian Christians, and people from other religious backgrounds were not welcome. Still, Chris Martin persevered, but before he could live in the village, he had a house built on a hill very close by. You guessed it: Cherry Hill! A small hill filled with cherry trees. So this first step for Martin in Nazareth, which has now become one of the largest and most important guitar makers in the world, is commemorated in this strikingly beautiful guitar. In short: The Martin Custom Shop D-14 Cherry Hill is definitely worth viewing and playing.
