The DT 770 PRO are great studio headphones by Beyerdynamic. These headphones are available in three separate impedances: 32 ohms, 80 ohms, and 250 ohms. This DT 770 PRO is 250 ohms. A higher impedance requires a higher voltage to work, but the advantage is that the sound will be phenomenal. A disadvantage of a higher impedance is that the headphones aren’t suitable for mobile devices as they won’t provide the necessary power. It is possible to use high-impedance headphones for mobile devices if you use a headphone amplifier. Consequently, higher-impedance headphones are better suited for studio work. Headphones with a lower impedance require less power and are thus more suited for mobile devices and produce a better sound at a lower voltage. Lower-impedance headphones aren’t very suited for hi-fi work as they can blow out. As such, these headphones are available at different impedances: the 32 ohms for smartphones and laptops, the 80 ohms for universal studio use, and the 250 ohms for professional use and audio mixing.
The DT 770 PRO are circumaural and have a closed system. This means that the back of the earpads are closed as to keep the sound limited to the inside of the headphones. It also prevents the listener from hearing background noise (although they aren’t completely noise-cancelling). Closed and open headphones have their pros and cons. A closed system is preferable in the studio as the mic will not record the sound from the headphones. An open system will make the sound more airy but is less suited for public settings as other people can also hear your music. The earpads are very soft and are replaceable if necessary. Furthermore, the headband is very comfortable. The headphones produce a high-quality neutral sound. This is important, as for studio work and audio mixing you require a neutral sound as to be able to hear the small nuances of the sound and what still needs to be tweaked.
