Casio
The Casio AP-S450 is a great new digital piano from their Celviano series. Casio is not new to the world of digital pianos. Their pianos are very versatile and they make pianos for every purpose: from ultra-compact portable designs to large acoustic-like digital pianos. All of their pianos have a great action and a beautiful sound.
Celviano
The Celviano series from Casio was specially developed to produce digital pianos that are as close to acoustic pianos as possible. They have thus focussed predominantly on the essence of the piano: the action and the sound. To achieve this, they have used a great combination of physical acoustic mechanisms and digital technology. Furthermore, they have implemented Casio’s unique sound source technology to make sure the piano will sound as close to an acoustic piano as possible. Additionally, you’ll feel like you’re playing an acoustic piano due to the physical acoustic mechanisms.
The AP-S450
The AP-S450 is basically the same as the AP-550, except for the fact that the AP-S450 is smaller. This makes the piano ideal for the pianist with little space. The piano has 88 keys that are made of wood and resin. The keys are ultra-responsive and have a hammer mechanism. The piano is also very versatile when it comes to its sound, with 26 separate sounds, including 6 grand piano sounds. Casio used the Multi-Dimensional Morphing AiR with the AP-S450, which produces a rich resonance and a seamless transition between tones. This, combined with the advanced string resonance system, makes sure the piano will sound full, airy, and authentic. This is also partially due to the fact that Casio used four different speakers that have been expertly placed over the piano. Additionally, the piano has three pedals: the damper, the soft, and the sostenuto.
The advantages of a digital piano
But if you want the sound and experience of an acoustic piano, why don’t you just buy an acoustic piano? There are several reasons as to why digital pianos are preferred that can be explained with the AP-S450. Firstly, acoustic pianos are significantly more expensive, not only due to the purchase of the piano itself but also due to its high maintenance costs. A digital piano also doesn’t have to be tuned and they’re less sensitive to humidity. Another important reason why people buy a digital piano is because they can be used with headphones. Acoustic pianos produce sound by a hammer that hits a string, which means the sound is quite loud. This is often not very appreciated by neighbours and roommates, while a volume control or headphones often is appreciated. The piano also has a Volume Sync Equalizer, which makes sure that even on a low volume the sound will be beautifully balanced. Additionally, the AP-S450 has a recording function and a USB memory. The sound can also be tweaked with different effects and the system has a built-in metronome. Furthermore, you can connect your phone to the piano via the included MIDI adapter and you can expand the system with the Casio Music Space App.
