Martin
Martin is a reputable American company which has been making guitars for almost 200 years. Throughout the years they have become one of the best when it comes to western guitars. This is because quality is their biggest priority. Consequently, Martin guitars are very popular. There are even many famous guitarists who use Martin guitars, like Muddy Waters, Bob Dylan, and David Gilmour. Furthermore, their production process is environmentally friendly. Since the ‘90s they have worked together with the FSC to prevent deforestation. They only use wood from trees that have to be cut down to keep the forest healthy. The other parts of the guitar are recycled, as well. By purchasing a Martin guitar you are thus not only investing in quality, but also the environment.
The Junior Series
Junior guitars are slightly smaller 000 or Dreadnought bodies that still sound the same in tone or volume. Junior Series models are built for comfort and playability, making them ideal for your first guitar. But they’re also big on traditional Martin features like solid wood construction and ¼-inch scalloped X-bracing. They deliver all the tone you’d expect from a larger Martin guitar while ensuring you’ll never outgrow them. They have a high-performance tapered neck, pleked frets, and a contoured back edge.
The 000CJR-10E
The 000CJR-10E is a junior auditorium guitar. This model is ideal for guitar players who love the sound of an auditorium guitar but struggle with the large body. The top of the body is made of sapele. Sapele has great resonance and produces a bright sound. The back and sides are also made of sapele and produce a warm sound that focuses on the middle tones. The neck is made of ‘select hardwood.’ This means that Martin has either used cedar or mahogany, depending on which they can purchase sustainably at the time of production. Both tonewoods are great and the difference between the two is barely noticeable. The guitar has a Richlite fretboard. Richlite consists of a combination of wood fibres and resin. This creates a sort of plastic, but it’s not noticeable. Richlite feels almost the same as mahogany or rosewood. Furthermore, Richlite is a lot more sustainable and doesn’t have to be maintained as it doesn’t have to be cleaned or conditioned.
