Shure
From Elvis Presley to Martin Luther King, and from the Grammys to the Olympics, Shure has been at many legendary moments in history, and for good reason. Since its foundation almost 100 years ago, the brand has been focused on innovation and quality. First with making radio equipment, but soon also in microphones. They quickly became the largest microphone brand in the world thanks to products such as the SM57 and SM58, but also in the present, this company continues to innovate with new technologies. In short: Are you looking for a microphone? Then a Shure is always a good choice!
The 520DX
The 520DX is a fun vintage harmonica microphone from Shure. The microphone looks like it was taken directly from the hands of a ‘50s blues musician. The beautiful chrome exterior with the green backside will immediately transport you into the right mindset. The microphone is omnidirectional which means that it will nicely catch all the nuances of your harmonica. However, the 520DX is not just suitable for harmonicas, but can also be used for vocals. This will result in a lo-fi type of sound, so it won’t sound very bright and clear, but maybe that’s exactly what you’re looking for. On the bottom of the microphone there’s a volume control so you can alter the volume without having to stop playing. The microphone does have a high impedance so it won’t be suitable for low-impedance devices. The 520DX has an attached cord with a 1/4" jack plug.
