Squier
Squier is part of Fender. In 1965 they were bought by Fender, specifically to sell their popular Stratocasters and Telecasters for a lower price. This means they are the only brand that can copy Fender guitars completely, because they are part of the patent. The difference between Fender and Squier guitars is mostly in where they are produced. Fender guitars are either made in Mexico or the United States, whereas Squier guitars are made in Asia, usually Indonesia or China. They also tend to use cheaper materials, depending on the series. This means Squier guitars can be cheaper than Fender guitars. However, Squier remains one of the best producers when it comes to cheap guitars, because they produce relatively high-quality guitars for the price.
The Sonic Series
Squier announced the arrival of the Sonic series at NAMM 2023. This series is considered the successor to their Bullet series. Just like with the Bullet guitars, the Sonic guitars are solid-body beginner electric guitars. These guitars are a reliable option within the lowest price category. The Sonic series is even more extensive than the Bullet series, as they also produce lesser-known guitars, such as the Esquire and the Mustang. The guitars are also made in more unique colours.
The Sonic Stratocaster HT H
The Sonic Stratocaster HT H looks like a Stratocaster version of the Esquire. The Esquire was Fender’s first guitar and only had one pickup near the bridge. This Stratocaster also only has one pickup, which is nowadays a popular choice as it’s simple and reliable. The Sonic Stratocaster HT H has a humbucker pickup, this is a double coil pickup which produces a warm and full sound. The body of the guitar is made of poplar, which is a lightweight tonewood which produces a balanced sound. Both the neck and the fretboard are made of maple, which is a great and sustainable combination.
