The Yamaha C1X grand piano is the Benjamin of the highly regarded Yamaha C-Series grand pianos. The legendary Yamaha CFX concert grand is the basis for the current C-Series grand pianos. It is characterized by a clear sound with a clean touch, accompanied by sparkling tones and transparent harmonies. It is not for nothing that a Yamaha grand piano is a welcome guest in concert halls, theaters and conservatories. Yamaha has been manufacturing its C grand pianos for more than half a century, and preserving tradition is not synonymous with refusing to change. The search for perfection continues to evolve step by step, resulting today in a range of instruments with an extremely refined yet powerful sound. With a depth of 161 centimeters, the C1X is the most compact grand piano. Ideal for placement in slightly smaller rooms such as living rooms and small halls.

The origins of Yamaha grand pianos go back to 1902, when Yamaha produced its first grand piano. Starting in 1950, the first C grand piano was developed and from there a tradition was established. In over half a century, the wings have gradually undergone refinement and optimization resulting in the current CX series. Maintaining tradition in this regard is not the same as refusing to change. A constant search for perfection leads to knowledge, techniques and experience that form the basis for the pure sparkling tone and fine playing character of the CX models that transform any room into a concert hall.
About technology
A wing consists of many parts and thousands of components. Describing all the parts and connections piece by piece is impossible but we would like to share some unique points about the CX series. A first point that is an important factor in achieving rich sounds is the support of the instrument. The frame provides stability and takes power and converts it into reverb when pressure is applied to the instrument. By making the frame about 20% thicker than usual, the support improves significantly. This innovation is the first reflection of the newly designed CX series.
The heart of a piano or grand piano is the soundboard which is set in motion by vibration of the strings and generates the sound. Yamaha has an unsurpassed technical ability to ensure that the soundboard always provides excellent projection. Only the finest materials are used in the soundboard assembly and the techniques result in optimal resonance.
The strings are an important part in the creation of the sound. Obviously this is influenced by the tuning with the hammerheads, the soundboard and the construction of the piano but the strings have a profound effect on the timbre and sustain of the grand piano. The CX grand pianos use specially designed strings that produce a rich sound with sparkling high registers and deep-sounding basses where the end result is a solid harmonic sound. Important here are the hammerheads, which unlike many piano builders Yamaha manufactures entirely in-house, leading to improved tonality, springiness and power.
The Yamaha SH3 silent systeem
The Yamaha SH3 Silent system is the latest generation of electronics that Yamaha uses in its acoustic pianos. Like its predecessor, the system features two world-renowned concert grand pianos, the Yamaha CFX and the Bosendorfer Imperial. Yamaha's flagship model, the CFX, stands out thanks to a wide range of timbres, from a crisp discant to a full bass. The Bösendorfer Imperial concert grand piano is world-renowned for its sonorous, rich, "Viennese sound. In addition to the acoustic piano sounds, the system features 10 other timbres, including: electric pianos, harpsichords, organs, string orchestra, choir and synth pad. The sensor system has undergone a major upgrade, making the registration of key impressions even more accurate.
A good addition is that the SH3 system is now equipped with Bluetooth. This makes it possible to play music wirelessly over the system via your smartphone or tablet. Another awesome feature is the wireless connection to the Smart Pianist App, which allows innovative control of the piano. It is easy to select and edit sound settings, but features such as recording and a teaching method are also available.
