Yamaha
Yamaha was founded in 1887 by Torakusu Yamaha in Japan when he made his first acoustic organ. Yamaha was very passionate and soon began making all types of pianos and grand pianos. He was the first in Japan to produce pianos. Within his development process this progressive innovation was always present. Throughout the last 150 years the company has grown immensely and in all types of directions. Their first acoustic guitar was produced in the 1960s and ever since they have been preoccupied by improving and innovating guitars. The innovation of Torakusu Yamaha is still present in current Yamaha instruments.
The GC-Series
The GC-Series is the best within Yamaha’s series. With these series they employ their decades of experience by producing the best handmade classical guitars. Consequently, from beginning to end the guitars are made by hand and are of extremely high quality. All of the guitars are made in either Japan or China. Yamaha prioritises close attention to detail and a careful selection of the best tonewoods. There are two different types of guitars within the series: the S and the C. Guitars that end with an S have a spruce top and guitars that end with a C have a cedar top. These two tonewoods are the most popular for classical guitar tops.
The GC35C
The GC32C is a very high-quality guitar within this series. The top is made of solid American cedar, which produces a beautifully warm sound. Cedar is one of the most popular tonewoods for classical guitars as it complements the nylon strings fantastically. The back and sides are made of solid Madagascan rosewood. A completely solid body produces a strong yet authentic sound. The guitar has an African mahogany neck and an ebony fretboard. This is a great combination which results in a comfortable feel and a long life.
