Yamaha
Yamaha was founded in 1887 by Torakusu Yamaha in Japan when he made his first acoustic organ. Yamaha was very passionate and soon began making all types of pianos and grand pianos. He was the first in Japan to produce pianos. Within his development process this progressive innovation was always present. Throughout the last 150 years the company has grown immensely and in all types of directions. Their first acoustic guitar was produced in the 1960s and ever since they have been preoccupied by improving and innovating guitars. The innovation of Torakusu Yamaha is still present in current Yamaha instruments.
The NX-Series
The NX-Series consists of modern guitar shapes with unique preamps that have been specially developed for live gigs. These guitars are very suitable for both advanced classical guitarists and western or electric guitarists that want to try their hand at classical guitar. The series has two subcategories: the NTX and the NCX. The NTX have thinner necks, oval soundholes, and thinline bodies. The NCX have all traditional aspects of classical guitars. The NTX is thus better suited for beginning, western, and electric guitarists. All models have the Atmosfeel preamp which produces a consistent and superior amplified sound, regardless of the volume level. The guitars contain a piezo element underneath the saddle which contains individual sensors for every string. Within the body there is a small microphone which amplifies the resonance. Combined with the piezo element the amplified sound is beautiful and authentic.
The NTX3
The NTX3 has thus been developed for western and electric players, but is of course still suitable for classical players. The guitar has a solid spruce top with rounded edges. Spruce is one of the most popular tonewoods for tops as it produces a warm sound. The back and sides are made of walnut, which produces a deep and bright sound. The guitar has a mahogany neck and an ebony fretboard. This is a popular combination as it is comfortable while playing but it’s also sturdy and reliable.
