Types of guitars
Basically, there are 3 types of guitars: The steel string guitar, the electric guitar and the classical guitar. For kids it is important that they learn the basics quick and effortless, without hurting their fingers too much. That is why it is good to start with a classical guitar. Classical guitars have nylon strings, unlike the other 2 types. Nylon strings are softer and thinner so they easier on the hands. Therefore it is good to check the string type when you purchase their first guitar. Despite what the name implies, the classical guitar is not only used for classical music, you can easily play pop songs on it and learn the chords doing it. If the focus will be pop/rock after learning the basics, it is best to look for a steel string guitar as a next step as most rock and pop artist do play on steel string guitars. But the best way to start is a classical junior guitar!

For children older than 12 years we recommend a 4/4 guitar, which is a normal sized guitar. Between 8-12 years, the 3/4 would be the best choice. This guitar is one quarter smaller then a normal guitar. 1/2 guitars are specially made for kids between and 8 years and if they are younger then we recommend the 1/4 guitar.
