Why the Wilhelm series?
Schimmel is a leading piano and grand piano manufacturer from the Lower Saxony part of Germany. Wilhelm Schimmel started this family business on May 2, 1885 in a suburb of Leipzig. One of Schimmel's greatest missions was to ensure that as many pianists as possible could afford a good quality piano. The Wilhelm series was therefore designed in honor of its founder and would do no honor if his mission were not observed. Today the Wilhelm pianos are produced in Poland. Another budget-friendly series that puts Wilhelm's mission into practice is the Fridolin series. These pianos are produced in China, but most Schimmels are still made in Germany.
