Additionally, the cedar has an open pore finish, which means that there is only a very thin lacquer on the wood. This is beneficial, because the pores are still exposed which means the wood can still respond greatly to the vibrations of the strings. Open pore finishes make guitars more responsive and louder. The back and sides of the body are made of laminated sapele, which increases the projection and improves the resonance of the guitar. The Z-Nature has a sapele neck and a rosewood fingerboard.
