This amp is part of Boss’ Katana series. This series is named after the traditional Japanese sword: the katana. This symbol shows the combination of traditional craftsmanship and innovation. Within this series, Boss develops versatile and powerful amps for a relatively low price. The Katana series stands next to the Waza Craft series, which means that the most innovative technology has been used. The amps contain several effects, which means these amps are ideal for the musician who likes to play different styles.

The Katana-Air EX

The Katana-Air EX is a 35W amplifier with two 5” speakers so this small amp still has a large sound. Another large advantage of this amp, besides the small size, is the fact that the amp can be used entirely wirelessly. The amp will be delivered with the Boss WL-T transmitter. The transmitter can be connected to your guitar and will send the signal to the amp. Furthermore, you can use the amp without an adapter. For those who prefer it, the adapter will be included in the package, but can also be used with 8 AA batteries or with the separately sold Roland rechargeable power pack.

Sound

The amp also produces a beautiful sound. The sound is rich and resonant, which is partially due to the wooden cabinet and the bass-reflex port. The amp has five different amp options, including a neutral acoustic sound. This amp can thus be used with electric guitars, semi-acoustic guitars, and bass guitars. Moreover, you can add several effects, including distortion, modulation, delay, and reverb. Do you want to alter these effects? Via the Bluetooth function you can change the effects with the Boss Tone Studio App. The Bluetooth function and the AUX-in can both be used to play along with your favourite music. Do you want to record your music? That’s definitely possible! The amp has a USB-out so you can connect it directly to your recording software.
