Godin
Godin is a Canadian company that produces high-quality guitars. Almost all their wood comes from North America, which means they are relatively sustainable. All their guitars are also made by hand by the best luthiers. Every guitar is just checked by multiple professionals which means they can guarantee high-quality products.
A classical electric guitar
Combining acoustic and electric guitars isn’t new. Semi-acoustic, hollow-body, and semi-hollow body guitars have existed for a while. The combination of a classical guitar and an electric guitar is less common. Although semi-acoustic classic guitars are becoming more popular, a proper combination doesn’t really exist. Consequently, Godin has developed the ACS guitar. This is a classical guitar which is inspired by solid-body electric guitars. This means the guitar doesn’t have a sound hole, which means the vibrations resonate on the wood. The guitar also isn’t completely solid, because it has hollow chambers in the body. This will improve the resonance, without it overshadowing the electric components. It is clearly a classical guitar, with nylon strings, a classical headstock, and a classic bridge. The piezo pickup is located underneath the bridge. The sound can be altered with the sliders on the body, which means the guitar is versatile. The ACS can be directly connected to an amp with the jack input. However, the guitar also has an XLR input, which means the guitar can directly be connected to certain synthesizers, which will result in a unique combination.
Materials
The ACS Koa has a semi-hollow body, which means the guitar has hollow chambers. This means the wood influences the sound quite significantly. The back and sides are made of maple, which creates a bright sound and an amazing projection. The top of the body is made of laminated koa. Koa comes from Hawaii and is relatively rare. Koa has a recognisably warm and bright sound, which is very popular in the guitar industry. Additionally, the guitar has a beautiful wood pattern, which means koa guitars stand out. The pattern can deviate from the photo because every slab of wood has a different natural pattern, which is why we’ve added photos of multiple versions. The neck is made of mahogany and the fretboard is made of Richlite. Richlite is a synthetic alternative to wood and is made of resin and wood fibres, which are pressed together at high temperatures. This results in a rigid material and is ideal for fretboards. It is strong enough to keep the neck steady, and smooth enough for it to play comfortably, and it is also resistant to humidity, heat, cold, and drought, which means it doesn’t require maintenance. The ACS is thus a very innovative and professional classical electric guitar!
