Guitarists are familiar with the tube amp stacks that sound amazing when turned up loud on a big stage, and with combo amps that are a perfect fit for smaller venues and rehearsal. THR ignored the convention that a practice amp should simply be a smaller version of a larger amplifier, creating a new “third amp” category designed around what players need when they’re playing at home.
All THR-II models feature Bluetooth connectivity for audio playback, the “THR Remote” mobile editor app, and third-party footswitch support.
THR10II Wireless and THR30II Wireless also feature a built-in rechargeable battery and Line 6 wireless receiver. Just grab your THR, your guitar, and a Line 6 Relay G10T transmitter (sold separately), and play anywhere your music takes you.

The Blues Cube Stage is a high-quality and compact amplifier from Roland. It’s a 60 watt amp with a 12 inch speaker. It’s also a modelling amp. In this case, that means that this is a transistor amp which models a tube amp. This is quite complicated, actually, but Roland seems to have figured it out. Tube amp are in theory quite simple, and Roland found that modelling amplifiers should be too. As such, the amp only has a clean and a crunch channel, just like a regular valve amp. These two channels can be used to implement small and nuanced changes, which means extra options are unnecessary. The Blues Cube Stage can thus produce the same warm tones and nuances as a regular tube amp.
But why a modelling amp? A modelling amp can be very handy, as it’s lighter and smaller. Moreover, it’s easier to control the volume on a transistor amp, and it’s even possible to use it with headphones. Valve amps sound amazing, but require a lot of maintenance and they tend to be quite loud. Furthermore, it is possible to connect the amp to a footswitch. The amp also has an USB-input, which means you can record your playing directly to your computer. The Blues Cube Stage is thus the ideal modelling amplifier!
Fender is an American company which was founded in 1946 by Leo Fender. The company is known for their solid body electric guitars and was the first to sell these guitars. Their first guitar was the Telecaster, which became very popular. This model was followed up with the equally popular Stratocaster and the Fender Bass. Throughout the decades they have designed more popular shapes which explains their current popularity quite well. Additionally, Fender prioritises quality. It is thus not surprising that their guitars are used by many famous guitarists, like Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and David Gilmour. Nowadays they also produce high-quality accessories and amplifiers.
The original Champion Series was developed to produce the ideal versatile practice amps for a great price. Consequently, the Champion 100 is a staple in practice rooms and the Champion 20 was for many guitar players their first amp. Regardless of this success Fender has decided to improve the series, which they definitely succeeded at. The Champion II amps are now available These new amps have improved sounds and effects. Most notably, Fender has altered the distortion options, with better modelling options including British and Classic. The amps also have an AUX-in, a headphone jack, and a USB port.
The Champion II 25 is the smallest in the series, with a width of only 35 centimetres. This makes the amp ideal for players who have little space. The amp is 25 watts which means it can still produce a relatively powerful sound. Furthermore, the amp contains one 8” speaker and one input. The Champion II 25 contains the effects Delay, Reverb, Multi, and Modulation.

The Catalyst CS Series contains three high-quality amplifiers which all have two channels. The amps look like traditional amps, but they have all the advantages of modern amps, including twelve modelling options that are produced by Line 6’s popular Helix Amp and Effects Processor. As such, you can choose between many sound options, from a beautiful bright clean sound to a hard and dirty distortion. Furthermore, each of the twelve modelling options has its own boost type, so every individual sound can be perfectly boosted. Besides the twelve modelling options the amp also contains 24 different effects with the same quality as the Helix modelling options. The amps are incredibly versatile as well, because they have an XLR input (for a microphone), a MIDI output, a built-in USB interface, and a Power Amp input so you can use the amps as speakers. Additionally, the amps have a built-in tuner, an effects loop input, and an output for a PA system.
The Catalyst CX 60 is the smallest amp from the series. It’s a 60-watt amp and has a 12-inch speaker. Due to its small size it’s ideal for home use, but due to its power it’s not very ideal for large performances, unless you use a PA system. Due to the built-in USB interface the amp can also be used for recording, which means it’s the ideal purchase for the musician who wants a new amp and wants to start recording.
The other amps in the series are the Catalyst CX 100 and the Catalyst CX 200.

Laney is a British company that has been producing amplifiers since 1967. This amp is ideal for guitarists who want many options in an easy-to-use system. The amp has twelve different amp tones that range from beautiful clean to hardcore metal. Furthermore, the amp has four built-in stompbox effects: Compressor, Overdrive, Distortion, and Octaver. The Champion 50XL also has twelve classic effects, including reverb and delay. The Blues Cube Hot is a versatile and compact modelling amplifier from Roland. It’s a 30 watt amp and it has a 12 inch speaker. All of Roland’s Blues Cubes are designed with their ‘Tube Logic’-technology. This means that the transistor amp have a the same warm and authentic sound as their original Blues Cube valve amp. It’s quite hard to replicate the valve amp sound, but Roland realised that simplicity was the answer. The amp has a Clean and a Crunch channel, with which all the nuances can be implemented.
But why would a transistor amplifier be preferable? Although valve amps sound beautiful, they often tend to be quite heavy, big, and require a lot of maintenance. On the other hand, transistor amps are more compact and lightweight, require minimal maintenance, and can be used with headphones. Furthermore, a footswitch can be connected to the amp. The amp also has a USB-input, which means the amp can be directly connected to a PC. Lastly, Roland made sure the amp also looks vintage, so the Blues Cube Hot allows for the full vintage experience!
