Boss Katana Gen 3 Series

The Boss Katana Gen 3 series is part of Boss’ Katana series. This series is named after the traditional Japanese sword: the katana. This symbol shows the combination of traditional craftsmanship and innovation. Within this series, Boss develops versatile and powerful amps for a relatively low price. The Katana series stands next to the Waza Craft series, which means that the most innovative technology has been used. The amps contain several effects, which means these amps are ideal for the musician who likes to play different styles. The third generation has an improved response and expression. Furthermore, the third generation produces a better faux-tube amp sound with the innovative technology that Boss has developed since the MkII series. Additionally, the user interface has become more intuitive and the built-in effects are smoother. The third generation is thus literally Next Level. The Katana amps are available in several different sizes and for different prices.

The Katana-50 EX Gen 3

The Katana-50 EX Gen 3 is the expanded version of the Katana-50 EX Gen 3. The amp has the same functions and sounds, including the five effect categories and the four memory slots, but also has for example an added Pushed function. An important addition to the Katana-50 EX is that it’s better suited for live use, predominantly due to the Line Out. The Katana-50 cannot be directly connected to a PA system, so it’s not very suitable for larger gigs. The Katana-50 EX does have a line out, making it a lot more versatile. Furthermore, the amp also has a Stereo Expand function and works great with the GA-FC and GA-FC EX footswitches. You can also download the Boss Tone Studio app to alter the settings.
